Senior Specialist, Education
<div><strong>Job Overview</strong><br />
The role of the Senior Specialist, Education is to develop, coordinate, and execute programs for the education and training of microbiologists and other biomedical scientists. This position supports ASM by offering educational resources and leading online series, workshops and conferences (i.e. the Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Students (ABRCMS), ASM Undergraduate Conference for Educators (ASMCUE) and webinars). This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing scientific and professional development content for students and non-students. In addition, the role is responsible for securing content experts for education programs, online learning, and training curriculum through varied products and services.<br />

<li>Work with volunteers to identify and develop program goals, content and design/format for online series, workshops, and conferences.</li>
<li>Identify, orient and manage subject matter experts and authors for events and publications (e.g. speakers, facilitators, evaluators, judges and authors).</li>
<li>Identify and manage in person and online event services (e.g. abstracts, programming, credentialing, online platform)</li>
<li>Collaborate with Senior Education Manager and cross-functional teams (e.g. Meetings, Marketing & Communications, IT) to develop work plans, content and timelines, deliverables, resources, and assist with budget for programmatic area.</li>
<li>Develop and manage communities of practice to advance professional and career development.</li>
<li>Develop need and program assessments, and monitor participant feedback (e.g., satisfaction and learning); ensure findings drive development of new programming.</li>

This is largely a sedentary role and may sit or use PC for long periods of time. Bending, reaching, or stooping may be necessary for use of filing cabinets or other office cabinets or office machines. This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computer, phones, copiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. |

Requirements |
<ol>
<li>Bachelor’s degree required with preference for Master’s or other advanced degree in a STEM field</li>
<li>Five (5) or more years of experience with a focus on program design and evaluation</li>
<li>Experience in recruitment; networking; and marketing</li>
<li>Understanding of effective practices in learning communities and working with underrepresented communities</li>
<li>Proficiency with technologies and platforms to support education, training, building communities and communications</li>
<li>Event planning skills are a plus</li>
<li>Experience in associations, nonprofit or scientific organizations a plus</li>
