This session, is specifically tailored for scientific society leaders, including CEOs and professional staff, looking to align governance practices with organizational growth, sustainability, and inclusivity. Participants will learn how boards and executive leadership can collaborate to implement strategic governance changes that align mission, vision, and resources with future challenges and opportunities.
Attendees are eligible to receive 1 Certified Association Executive (CAE) and 1 Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) credit. The session will examine how strategic planning and governance reforms intersect, offering insights on how to let go of ""sacred cows"" and embrace bold decisions for future-proofing your society. Leaders will learn how to harness the diversity of thought and collective wisdom of their society to create a shared vision for the future, while embedding DEI principles as a core part of long-term goals. About the SpeakerDebbie Trueblood, MSW, FASAE, IOM, CAE, Senior Consultant, AMC Consulting Services (she/her)Debbie Trueblood, MSW, FASAE, IOM, CAE is a Senior Consultant with Association Management Center (AMC). She has been in the association community for 23 years. She has served as an Executive Director beginning in 2002. As a consultant and speaker, she supports associations with governance, strategic planning, DEI, and ethics. She serves on the boards for the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and serves as the 2024-2026 Chair of the National Association of Park Foundations (NAPF). She became a Fellow of ASAE (FASAE) in 2022 and earned her Certified Association Executive (CAE) in 2008. She is on faculty for the ASAE Exceptional Boards program. She was the 2018-2019 Chair of the ASAE Ethics Committee. She is a past chair of the Association Forum's Welcoming Environment Committee. Debbie received her former association’s Diversity Icon Award in 2019 and Association Forum’s “Forty Under 40” award in 2014. |
