About the Speakers

Tiffany Swanigan, CAE, Vice President, Operations, Society of Women Engineers (she/her)

Tiffany Swanigan serves proudly as the Vice President, Operations at the Society of Women Engineers. In this role Tiffany directs all membership recruitment, renewal and engagement strategies. Additionally, Tiffany oversees key operational functions to ensure the efficient delivery of SWE programs and services to its members, as well as collaborates with diverse stakeholders to facilitate growth and sustainability across global initiatives. 

Tiffany holds a Certified Association Executive (CAE) accreditation from the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and brings over 15 years of association-based experience with strength in member growth and organizational development. 

 

Roberta Rincon, Ph.D., Director, Research and Impact, Society if Women Engineers (she/her) 

As SWE’s Director of Research and Impact, Roberta Rincon oversees the organization’s research activities on gender equity issues affecting girls and women in engineering, from school to career. In addition to sharing SWE’s research on gender equity in engineering and technology with academic, industry, and policy researchers and practitioners, she also synthesizes research and data from external sources to inform STEM diversity efforts. Roberta is the Principal Investigator for the NSF-funded Women of Color in Engineering Collaborative (WCEC). Before joining SWE, Roberta held positions in higher education campus planning and academic affairs. 

Roberta holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin, an MBA and an M.S. in Information Management from Arizona State University, and a Ph.D. in Educational Policy and Planning from UT Austin. 

 

Emily Burnett, Associate Director, Global Programs, Society of Women Engineers (she/her) 

Since joining SWE in 2019, Emily Burnett has been responsible for implementing SWE’s global business plan and growing member engagement outside of the United States to bring high-quality professional development and opportunities to women in STEM. Emily’s leadership extends to SWE’s extensive pre-college programs, which foster creativity, curiosity, and a passion for STEM by offering girls and young women valuable learning experiences, mentorship, and a supportive community. 

Emily has a B.A. in Economics and Spanish from the University of Illinois and an M.S. in Public Service Management from DePaul University.

Nicola Mohan, Senior Manager, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEI&B), Society of Women Engineers (she/her) 

Nicola Mohan serves as the Senior Manager of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging at SWE. Originally from Trinidad and Tobago, Nicola migrated to the United States as an undocumented immigrant at the age of 3, a personal journey that fuels her ongoing advocacy for DEI&B initiatives. 

Nicola’s professional trajectory commenced as an 11th-grade public school United States History teacher with Teach for America before transitioning seamlessly into the nonprofit sector and subsequently into the professional association space. 

Her expertise spans program management, strategic thinking, and DEI&B. Possessing a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the State University of New York at Geneseo, a Master’s in Social Work from Boston University, and a Diversity and Inclusion for HR certificate from Cornell University, Nicola brings a comprehensive educational background to her impactful role at SWE.
