Join us at our Association Basics event this November. Working for an association can be exciting, rewarding, yet challenging and frustrating at times. If you are looking to improve your effectiveness as an association employee or partner, investing time to deepen your understanding of the composition, legal status, governance structure, and core activities of an association is perhaps the fastest way to achieve your goal.

The Association Basics program will be delivered in two 4-hour sessions. Attendees will receive 8 CAE & CMP credits for participating in the workshop.  Attendees will participate in breakout rooms and use a workbook to engage and discuss topics with other association professionals.

 As a result of this virtual training, you will be able to: 

  • Ascertain attributes and nuances of non-profits and associations.

  • Articulate the mission and purpose that underlie your association's existence.
  • Expand upon and analyze the fundamental initiatives, offerings, and services of an association.
  • Elaborate on the balance between financial sustainability and the fulfillment of the association's mission.
  • Explain the volunteer governance structure of an association board and its supporting committees.
  • Provide a comprehensive understanding of membership types, benefits, and engagement tactics.
  • Depict the operational intricacies of local sections and chapters functioning within the association.
  • Identify effective techniques for nurturing and supporting volunteers and their respective committees.
