Criteria for CESSE Membership
While there are other "associations of associations" you may belong to, CESSE is the only one that focuses on issues unique to membership organizations representing professionals in science and engineering.
To be eligible for CESSE membership, you must be either the chief executive officer (CEO) or a mid-to-senior level staff member of a qualifying scientific or engineering society. Qualifying societies are those that have at least 100 individual members and whose members have a formal education in a scholarly discipline in science or engineering (including physical, natural, biomedical and social and similar sciences). The society's primary purpose must be:
- The advancement of knowledge in science (physical, medical, natural, or similar sciences) or engineering
- The development of technology and/or
- The provision of continuing education for scientists and engineers.
Eligible staff of federations of such societies and eligible staff of such societies operating at less than a national scope, but which are not local or regional subgroups of national organizations, are eligible for CESSE membership. CEOs and staff of societies who are employed by an association management company or similar entity are not eligible for membership.
Dues for 2007-2008 are $75 for the CEO and $35 for each additional staff person who joins.
