Why attend CESSE?

How often have you wondered how other like-minded scientific and engineering organizations did things, whether or not they faced similar issues and challenges, and what best practices and solutions they may have developed to move forward?

How do you search for examples and information to help you move forward - best practices to guide changes and improvements, or concrete information to help determine what to stop, what to start, and what to change?

At CESSE (Council of Engineering and Scientific Society Executives), you have access to many relevant sources of benchmarking. You can make contact with a wide range of suppliers who can provide you with insights into new technology, better practices, or simply better pricing.

A Personal Invitation From CESSE Vice President and 2008 Program Chair

The Drive to Success:  New Models for a Changing World

The 2008 CESSE Annual Meeting Planning Team welcomes you to Detroit. This year’s chairs for CESSE have created an outstanding program. The expanded agenda reflects your feedback from the successful 2007 meeting in Halifax. The Planning Team has incorporated some innovative changes to the program based on that input.

In the past CESSE has held a Management Institute each year prior to the Annual Meeting. To build on that well-received program, the team this year has added a new Information Technology Institute focused on a targeted technology. I applaud the IT Track’s added institute and the increased value it brings to attendees.

During recent years, discussions during CESSE sessions have reflected considerable member interest in international activities. Noting this interest, the Track Chairs are introducing a new “virtual” International Track featuring  international sessions in General Management, Membership, Publications, Meeting & Exhibits, Public Affairs, and Education & Training Tracks.

Beyond these new offerings, the conference continues to offer a range of exciting educational sessions. Remember to share your feedback on this year’s program so that Katherine McCarter and her Planning Team can respond to your recommendations when planning the Orlando meeting in 2009.

CESSE continues to be a unique organization devoted to addressing the needs of societies of scientific and engineering organizations.  Enjoy the “New Models for a Changing World” and prepare to “drive” your organization “to success.”

We look forward to seeing you in Detroit at CESSE 2008.
